What is Smart & Skilled?
Smart and Skilled is a New South Wales (NSW) government funding incentive for those trying to gain new skills needed to find a job or advance their careers.
As a prospective student, course costs are an important factor when deciding what to study and where. Smart and Skilled provides eligible students with an entitlement to government subsidised training on qualifications up to and including Certificate III level. There is also government funding available on higher level qualifications including Certificate IV to Advanced Diplomas. There are hundreds of eligible qualifications!
Choosing to study through the Smart & Skilled program also means you are guaranteed to receive quality training under the Smart & Skilled guidelines. For students, this is assuring because your chosen provider is obliged to deliver the course accordingly and at a very high level of quality and compliance.
Am I eligible for Smart and Skilled
Are you:
- 15 years old or over?
- No longer at school?
- Living or working in NSW?
- An Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen?
If you answered ‘Yes’ to all four questions, then you’re eligible to enroll in a government-subsidised course with an approved Smart and Skilled training provider and registered training organisation, like Upskilled.
Additionally, some Aboriginal people living in specified areas outside of the NSW border may also be eligible for Smart & Skilled.
What are the costs?
Smart and Skilled fees are set for the whole qualification as opposed to annual fees. So, they may appear to be a lot higher initially. The payment method or plan for these fees are agreed upon between the provider and the student before enrolment.
There are also 200,000 free training places made available for Fee-Free Scholarship recipients who meet the eligibility criteria.
Exact costs vary from course to course so talk to one of our Education Consultants today to find out exactly how much a particular course will cost you and what amount of funding you may be eligible for.
Smart & Skilled, if eligible, is an excellent option for students because of its financial benefits and quality assurance.
